Modern buildings for universities are already being erected in Gabala.
A number of universities have been transferred to Gabala.
The universities located in the center of Baku may be transffered outside the capital city.
The list of universities which may be transferred - the Azerbaijan State Medical University, Pedagogical University, Technical University, University of Architecture and Construction, Economic University and others. There is plan to move the State Oil Academy too, but its exact place is unknown yet. Some universities may be transferred to the suburbs while others to Gabala. Meanwhile, the Baku State University will remain in Baku.
By doing so, the government seeks to reduce the density in the capital city.
Sources in the Ministry of Education reported that in line with the 'National Strategy on Development of Education in the Azerbaijan Republic' it is planned to advocate measures for creation of campuses for students. The action plan for execution of the state strategy is being worked out now.
