The academician died at 88 at about 03:00 on February 1 after long illness.
Jalal Aliyev was born on June 30, 1928 in Nakhchivan. One of his brothers - Heydar Aliyev - went on to become the President of Azerbaijan and the other two brothers Hasan Aliyev and Agil Aliyev became the academicians of ANAS (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences), just like himself.
In 1980 Jalal Aliyev became a full member of ANAS. He was elected deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic three times (in 1995, 2000 and 2005).
