Olympic MuseumOpening ceremony of the Olympic Museum was held on March 27, 2001 in the main administrative building of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Olympic Museum has an indispensable role in the development of Azerbaijan Olympic Movement and Olympic games. The richness of exhibits here has positive impact on the exposition of the museum. Part of the exhibits is consisted of different souvenirs, carpets, clocks and other presents with Olympic symbol on them. The medals, Honorary Decrees, diplomas, cups that well-known sportsmen of Azerbaijan won at Olympic Games, World and European Championships are protected as the most valuable exhibits of the museum. The sportswear of our sportsmen representing Azerbaijan at Olympic Games, World and European Championships resembles variegated stage. Drawings, oil-paint painting and sculpturing works with sport theme at the exposition enrich the museum. All the numbers of monthly “Olimpiya” (Olympia) journal and weekly “Olimpiya dunyasi” (Olympic world) newspaper published by National Olympic Committee are kept at the museum as the mirror of Azerbaijan Olympic Movement. Jacques Rogge, President of International Olympic Committee, Mario Pescante, President of European Olympic Committee, Ovinilla Limberg, Chairman of Technical Cooperation Committee of European Olympic Committee, presidents of World and European sports federations and other respected persons have visited the museum.
