Establishment history of the InstituteThe Institute was founded in 1972 based on the Department of Automatized Control Systems of the Institute of Cybernetics of ANAS. Since 1982 DACS has been functioning individually. In 1997 Information-Telecommunication Scientific Centre was established based on DACS. On May 21, 2002 the Institute of Information Technology was established based on ITSC. Human resources of the InstituteThe Institute employs 250 researchers at the moment. Generally, high qualified specialists on all segments of IT are employed here. 3 academicians, 7 Doctors, 15 PhDs, 18 PhD students, 24 candidates for a degree and other researchers are working here. Recently the Institute ensured the following structures of the Republic with the specialists of various qualifications: BP, Azercell, Defense bodies, "RISK", "Intrans", “Azerin” BM, "SINAM IVEST", "ADANET", Azerbaijan State Economic University, University of Architecture and Construction, Management Academy, National Bank, Space, State Customs Committee, Ministry of Taxes, High Attestation Committee, UNESCO, OSCE Office in Kosovo, Commercial Banks, firms and so on. Technical insurance and facilitiesThe main departments of the Institute are located at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors of 7 storied building at B.Vahabzadeh str. 9, as well as at the 2nd floor of the main building of the Academy and at the 1st floor of the Presidium. The institute is provided with more than 150 PCs, scanners, printers and network-telecommunication equipments;All computers are provided with unlimited Internet access;Modern "Information Service" was established for ensuring the Institute researchers with scientific-technical information. "Information service" comprises library, e-library, Internet access, CDN based intellectual information funds and etc;The Institute researchers are ensured regularly with almost all scientific, scientific-practical, technological, popular and other books and journals published in former USSR;The Institute researchers are subscribed to English language electronic libraries as IEEE, ACM and have access to e-journals of Springer, Blackwell and etc;The Institute researchers are regularly informed about international conferences, forums organized in the field of IT at any point of the world.Foremost scientific-technical achievements of the InstituteWAN-global networking technologies (X25, SNA, DECNET, TCP/IP and so on) have been investigated and real practical results have been achieved for the first time in Republic (x.25 networking between Moscow-Baku-Tbilisi). LAN-local networking technologies (Alisa, Arcnet, Ethernet wire and wireless, intranet, etc) have been investigated for the first time and applied in different institutions of Azerbaijan. Web technology was founded and www.ab.az site of ANAS was developed in 1995 for the first time. Corporate networking was founded for the Presidium of ANAS as test for the first time. E-signature technology was founded in corporate network of ANAS for the first time. E-circulation system of documents was established and applied in corporate network of ANAS for the first time. Intranet system has been established and is functioning at present covering all institutes and organizations of ANAS, their departments and laboratories for the first time. Audio and video conferences are organized throughout the Republic for the first time via the Internet. Several measures of state importance have been taken for strengthening Defense of the Republic: Operative data mining system for "black boxes" of fighting planes was developed and applied successfully in all military aerodromes.Operative system was developed to transfer the data to the central administration via corporate network for detection and recognition of flying objects for Defense system from air attacks.Special corporate network was developed to provide military aerodromes with meteo-information.A passenger control system was developed for all stations of Baku subway, as well as previously applied coins were produced at this Institute. Special corporate audio information network was developed and applied for recording, storage and mining of service communications of machinists, station workers, dispatchers of Baku subway. The Institute researchers realized the project "Virtual Silk Way". It serves regularly to numbers of educational institutions of the Republic. Audio-information recording system for conference halls was developed and delivered. Corporate information system and network were developed and delivered to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism of AR for storage and mining of statistical data submitted by the travel agencies functioning in the territory of the republic. Web portal was developed, which is consisting of 3242 files and providing information about the Presidium of ANAS, its Departments, all members and corresponding members, Doctors of Science, institutes and organizations, sections and laboratories in three languages, i.e. Azerbaijani, Russian and English, in other words, comprising 120 books (200 pages). A local "Network Academy" of CISCO was established at Training Innovation Center of the Institute. "UNIX Fundamental", "IT Essential I" and "IT Essential II" courses are functioning currently. The Institute researchers established national Internet infrastructure in Azerbaijan for the first time.
