This year is extremely important in terms of Azerbaijani-Turkish relations,Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Özoral said.
The ambassador spoke at the opening of an exhibition of paintings dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Baku by the Islamic Army of the Caucasus from the Armenian occupation.
The Ambassador noted that today it is important to realize the significance of this date.
"The year 2018 is extremely important in terms of relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan. This year marks one hundred years of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and one hundred years of the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army,” he said.
Özoral stressed that today it is necessary to pass on the history of the struggle for independence to subsequent generations so that they know at what price the people were striving for it.
“The pictures presented here today depict not just a fragment of history, but evidence of the brotherhood and unity of our peoples,” he concluded.
