The squad of the Azerbaijani national team for the World Cup on freestyle wrestling, which will start on April 7 in Iowa, USA, was announced.
In the two-day race, 13 wrestlers will compete in 10 weight categories.
Georgi Ediserashvili, Afgan Khashalov (both 57 kg), Ahmednaby Gvarzatilov (61 kg), Haji Aliyev, Agahuseyn Mustafayev (65 kg), Joshgun Azimov (70 kg), Gadzhimurad Omarov (74 kg) Jabrayil Hasanov (79 kg), Aleksandr Gostiev (86 kg), Aslanbek Alborov (92 kg), Roman Bakirov, Nurmagomed Hajiyev (both 97 kg) and Jamaladdin Mahammadov (125 kg) will compete under leadership of head coach Firdovsi Umudov.
At the same time, the first vice-president of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation F. Umudov, will be assisted by coach Zalimkhan Huseynov and Arif Abdullayev.
According to the ballot, the Azerbaijani national team will be in the B subgroup with Cuba and Kazakhstan. The US, Georgia and Japan will compete in the A subgroup. Mongolia and India will be included in groups as 4th team. This will be determined as a result of the poll after the settlement of the issue with Russia.
